Drawer Slide Assembly

US Patent:
45346003, Aug 13, 1985
Filed:
Jan 20, 1984
Appl. No.:
6/572551
Inventors:
Peter A. Cosme - Lockport IL
International Classification:
F16C 2902
US Classification:
308 36
Abstract:
An improvement on my U. S. Pat. No. 4,389,079, granted June 21, 1983, for a DRAWER SLIDE ASSEMBLY applicable to case goods generally, such as chests, desks, dressers, tables and other household furniture having a drawer. My invention is applicable to case goods formed of wood, metal, etc. My improved slide comprises a pair of interengaging male and female channel-like members that may conveniently be metal stampings, one affixed to the bottom of a drawer cavity while the other is attached to the drawer bottom and designed to ride in the first mentioned channel member. The male channel has affixed to its leading or rear end a slide or guide block preferably molded of synthetic plastic having a low coefficient of friction, serving to introduce the channel by which it is carried into the other channel and also serving as a low friction bearing for smooth sliding movement of the drawer.

Drawer Guide Assembly

US Patent:
50112422, Apr 30, 1991
Filed:
Feb 3, 1987
Appl. No.:
7/010545
Inventors:
Peter A. Cosme - Lockport IL
International Classification:
A47B 8800
US Classification:
3123441
Abstract:
A prefabricated metal drawer-slide assembly for mounting in a cavity of a furniture unit, comprising a female channel-shaped guide member terminating in ends on a common level, the member adapted to be mounted in the cavity and to extend between front and back side of the furniture unit, for guiding a complementary male component affixed to a bottom side of a slideable drawer adapted for reciprocally movement in the cavity. The assembly further comprises an elevated reinforcing rib extending along the major length of a bottom side of the female guide member between the ends, and downwardly sloping terminal portions extending from opposite ends of the elevated rib for mergence with the opposite ends. Each of the terminal portions are inclined slightly to the horizontal and are provided with a screw opening adapted to accommodate an attachment screw for affixing the female guide member to frame elements of the furniture unit on a common level, the screws adapted to extend at a slight angle to the vertical and sufficient to clear a driving tool of the screw from the frame elements of the furniture unit irrespective of any vertical spacing between the frame elements. Protuberance are provided on the reinforcing rib which co-act with a minimal frictional resistance place member to provide a limited stop in the course of withdrawal of the drawer.

Safety Bed

US Patent:
41786459, Dec 18, 1979
Filed:
Dec 29, 1977
Appl. No.:
5/865736
Inventors:
Peter A. Cosme - Lockport IL
International Classification:
A47C 2108
US Classification:
5426
Abstract:
A safety bed provided by detachably arranged on a generally standard or other bed or infant's crib a gate rotatably carried by anchor means inserted under the mattress for frictional retention, making possible instant conversion of a standard or other bed to a safety bed as well as instant reconversion thereof. The gate is secured by suitable locking means in elevated position, inhibiting passage of the occupant's body from the bed. Upon release of the lock the gate may be lowered, permitting such passage. Various alternative forms of locks are disclosed, one form permitting disengagement of the gate from the anchor means. Also, various means are disclosed for attachment to the anchor means to reduce wear on the bedding by shifting of the anchor.

Drawer Slide Assembly

US Patent:
43890792, Jun 21, 1983
Filed:
Dec 18, 1980
Appl. No.:
6/217802
Inventors:
Peter A. Cosme - Lockport IL
International Classification:
A47B 8804
F16C 2900
US Classification:
312330R
Abstract:
Cabinet furniture wherein the principal element of novelty is a new and improved drawer slide, applicable to a wide variety of case goods such as chests, desks, dressers, tables and other household furniture having a drawer. While especially designed for furniture constructed mainly of wood or like material, my invention is also applicable to cases of metal, etc. My improved slide comprises a pair of interengaging male and female channel like members which may conveniently be metal stampings, one affixed to an upper surface of a drawer cavity while the other is attached to the drawer bottom and designed to ride in the first mentioned channel member. One of said channels, preferably though not necessarily that attached to the drawer bottom, has affixed to its leading or rear end a slide or guide block preferably molded of synthetic plastic having a low friction coefficient, serving to introduce the channel by which it is carried into the other channel and also serving as a low friction bearing for smooth sliding movement of the drawer. My invention is characterized by low cost, exceptionally smooth sliding operation and a complete absence of movable elements such as ball or roller bearings, which have been employed in previous structures of this nature with major inherent disadvantages.
