US Classification:
725 38, 725139, 348734
Abstract:
A remote control and method of programming a remote control for controlling components in an entertainment system are disclosed. The remote control may operate in multiple modes including a limited mode that prevents the remote control from sending predetermined commands to one or more components, even when instructed to do so by the user. In addition, the remote control may issue one or more commands to each component in response to a single user input.

Apparatus And Systems For Electrically Isolating And Transmitting Rf Signals Between Two Devices

US Patent:
7856207, Dec 21, 2010
Filed:
Dec 28, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/966738
Inventors:
Henry Gregg Martch - Parker CO, US
Kirk Lenzie - Aurora CO, US
Sam Chaisitti - Westminster CO, US
Paul Langer - Westminster CO, US
Assignee:
EchoStar Technologies L.L.C. - Englewood CO
International Classification:
H04B 1/06
US Classification:
455 411, 455 302
Abstract:
Various embodiments of apparatus and systems are provided for electrically isolating two devices while transferring power and RF signals therebetween. An electrical isolation apparatus includes an isolation transformer that operates to transfer electrical power between first and second devices. The electrical isolation apparatus also includes a decoupling device that transfers radio frequency (RF) signals between the first and second devices. The isolation transformer and the opto-isolator cooperatively operate to electrically isolate the first device from the second device.

Systems, Methods And Apparatus For Detecting Remote Control Errors

US Patent:
7890816, Feb 15, 2011
Filed:
May 8, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/117657
Inventors:
Henry Gregg Martch - Parker CO, US
Michael John Bazata - Elizabeth CO, US
Benjamin Raymond Mauser - Denver CO, US
Assignee:
EchoStar Technologies L.L.C. - Englewood CO
International Classification:
G06F 11/00
US Classification:
714 57, 714 25, 345169, 348114, 348734
Abstract:
Apparatus, systems and methods are described that facilitate the detection of errors within a remote control for a controlled device. A remote control detects an error condition during operation and transmits information regarding the error to a controlled device. The information regarding the error may be analyzed to determine the source of the problem in the remote control and/or possible solutions.

Systems And Methods For Automatic Configuration Of A Remote Control Device

US Patent:
8098337, Jan 17, 2012
Filed:
Sep 30, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/242089
Inventors:
Henry Gregg Martch - Parker CO, US
Assignee:
EchoStar Technologies L.L.C. - Englewood CO
International Classification:
H04N 5/44
US Classification:
348734, 348725
Abstract:
A remote control device establishes a bi-directional communication with a television receiver and uploads a set of remote control codes associated with a target component selected by the user. One method includes storing, within a television receiver, a set of remote control codes associated with a corresponding set of component types; presenting a component-selection user interface; receiving a target component type selected from the set of component types presented by the component-selection user interface; determining, from the set of remote control codes, a target remote control code associated with the target component type; and transmitting the target remote control code to the remote control device.
