Filed:
Mar 4, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/379177
Inventors:
Todd Glogovsky - Okemos MI
Robert G. Butala - Hockessin DE
Choong Y. Han - Wilmington DE
Gerald John Ennis - Oxford PA
Paolo Goberti - Vigarano Mainarda, IT
Assignee:
Basell Poliolefine Italia S.p.A. - Milan
International Classification:
C08L 2304
US Classification:
525191, 525216, 525232, 525240
Abstract:
A polyolefin composition suitable for preparing single ply roofing membranes, comprising: (A) from about 15 to about 40% by weight of a crystalline copolymer of propylene with at least one alpha-olefin of formula H C CHR , where R is H or a C linear or branched alkyl, containing at least about 90% by weight of propylene, having solubility in xylene at room temperature lower than about 15% by weight; (B) from about 60 to about 85% by weight of an elastomeric fraction comprising: (1) a copolymer of propylene with ethylene containing about 20 to about 35% by weight ethylene, and having solubility in xylene at room temperature greater than about 70% by weight, the intrinsic viscosity of the xylene soluble fraction being higher than about 3. 0 dl/g up to about 6. 0 dl/g; and (2) a copolymer of ethylene with at least one alpha-olefin of formula H C CHR , where R is a C linear or branched alkyl, containing about 15% to 40% by weight alpha-olefin, and having solubility in xylene at room temperature greater than about 25% by weight, the intrinsic viscosity of the xylene soluble fraction ranging from about 0.

Polyolefin Masterbatch And Composition Suitable For Injection Molding

US Patent:
8008400, Aug 30, 2011
Filed:
Mar 29, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/551679
Inventors:
Anteo Pelliconi - S. M. Maddalena, IT
Enea Garagnani - Ferrera, IT
Gerald J. Ennis - Oxford PA, US
Assignee:
Basell Poliolenfine Italia s.r.l. - Milan
International Classification:
C08L 9/00
C08L 23/04
C08L 23/10
US Classification:
525191, 525232, 525240
Abstract:
A masterbatch composition comprising (percent by weight): A) 50%-90% of a crystalline polypropylene component comprising: A) from 25% to 75% of a fraction having a melt flow rate MFRof from 0. 1 to 10 g/10 min. ; and A) from 75% to 25% of a fraction having a melt flow rate value MFRequal to or lower than 100 g/10 min. ; wherein the ratio MFR/MFRis from 5 to 60; and B) 10%-50% of a copolymer component of ethylene and at least one C-Cα-olefin, containing from 15% to 50% of ethylene; said masterbatch composition having a value of the intrinsic viscosity [η] of the fraction soluble in xylene at room temperature equal to or higher than 3. 5 dl/g, is added to polyolefin materials to obtain final compositions suitable for injection molding.
