Adjustable Intraocular Implant

US Patent:
20190167475, Jun 6, 2019
Filed:
Feb 4, 2019
Appl. No.:
16/266343
Inventors:
- Parsippany NJ, US
Laszlo O. ROMODA - San Clemente CA, US
Brian HAMSTROM - Trabuco Canyon CA, US
Ronald D. BACHE - Mission Viejo CA, US
Guenther GRABNER - Salzburg, AT
Herbert A. REITSAMER - Salzburg, AT
International Classification:
A61F 9/007
A61L 31/08
A61L 31/16
Abstract:
Methods and devices for adjusting or configuring the flow rate of an intraocular shunt are provided whereby hypotony can be avoided by increasing the flow rate through the device. In some embodiments, the device is a shunt that can have a first flow that can be modified to a second flow by modifying the shunt, such as by cutting the shunt. Additionally, one or more dissolvable portions can be present to provide an initial flow restriction and subsequent increase in flow over time.

Intraocular Shunt Insertion Techniques

US Patent:
20170172797, Jun 22, 2017
Filed:
Mar 6, 2017
Appl. No.:
15/451274
Inventors:
- Aliso Viejo CA, US
Laszlo O. ROMODA - San Clemente CA, US
Iqbal K. AHMED - Mississauga, CA
Brian Scott HAMSTROM - Oceanside CA, US
Wesley Anne JUNG - Trabuco Canyon CA, US
Vanessa I. VERA - Mission Viejo CA, US
Ronald D. BACHE - Mission Viejo CA, US
International Classification:
A61F 9/007
A61M 5/32
A61B 90/00
A61F 9/00
Abstract:
An inserter for treating glaucoma can comprise a housing, a needle, a plunger, a slider component, and a drive component. The drive component is disposed within a cavity of the housing and rotatable within the cavity to result in movement along a longitudinal axis of the inserter to the needle and the plunger upon rotation of the drive component. The slider component is coupled to the housing and slidable along an elongate groove of the drive component such that movement of the slider component along the axis rotates the drive component within the housing.

Intraocular Shunt Manufacture

US Patent:
20170172800, Jun 22, 2017
Filed:
Mar 9, 2017
Appl. No.:
15/454945
Inventors:
- Aliso Viejo CA, US
Brian HAMSTROM - Trabuco Canyon CA, US
Partha CHANDRAKANT - Foothill Ranch CA, US
Christopher HORVATH - Mission Viejo CA, US
International Classification:
A61F 9/007
A61F 9/00
Abstract:
An intraocular shunt can be manufactured using a system that includes a liquid bath and a wire, which is moved through the bath. The wire can be moved through a first liquid bath to produce a first tubular layer of drug-infused gelatin. Further, the wire can be moved through a second liquid bath to produce a second tubular layer of drug-free gelatin. The first and second tubular layers can be dried on the wire in a humidity-controlled space, thereby manufacturing a drug-loaded gelatin shunt.

Intraocular Shunt Manufacture

US Patent:
20160158063, Jun 9, 2016
Filed:
Aug 24, 2015
Appl. No.:
14/834158
Inventors:
- Aliso Viejo CA, US
Brian HAMSTROM - Trabuco Canyon CA, US
Partha CHANDRAKANT - Foothill Ranch CA, US
Christopher HORVATH - Desert Hot Springs CA, US
International Classification:
A61F 9/007
C23C 2/00
Abstract:
An intraocular shunt can be manufactured using a system that includes a liquid bath and a wire, which is moved through the bath. When moved through the bath, the wire is coated with a material, such as gelatin. For example, the liquid bath can have a top layer, including water, and a bottom layer, including gelatin. The coated wire passes through an aperture formed in a plate component of the system. The gelatin can be dried on the wire in a humidity-controlled space, thereby forming the shunt.
